Illinois Army National Guard

Spiritual Minded Military Illinois Army National Guard: Why My Faith Has No Uniform — The Field Armor Directive at Rock Island Arsenal

THE UNIFORM THAT STOPS AT THE GATE

You have a uniform approach to everything.

OCPs for drill. PT equipment in the morning formation. The dress uniform for ceremonies. The cold weather gear for winter at Rock Island Arsenal. The wet-weather equipment of the Mississippi flooding. The unit t-shirt for the armory gym. The patrol cap for the motor pool.

You have a set of clothes to fit any surroundings. Every mission. Every season. Every weather condition.

But on Sunday afternoon the uniform ends at the armory gate. You drive home. The OCPs are packed in the duffel bag. The dress uniform is in the closet. The boots are lying on the doorstep.

And your religion has not a uniform at all.

The Illinois Army National Guard provides you with a uniform each time you have a physical mission. It publishes naught in the spiritual war.

It is not your fault that there is a gap. Closing it is your responsibility.

"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." — Ephesians 6:11

WHAT ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL TAUGHT YOU

The Rock Island Arsenal is located on the Mississippi River, which borders Illinois and Iowa. The arsenal has been producing military equipment since the civil war. It is today the biggest government-owned weapons production arsenal in the United States.

There you have been trained. There you have it, bored. You have trod the same soil upon which soldiers have trained for all the major wars of America.

Rock Island showed you that preparation of equipment is needed. The man with the gun is not a man. The unit without gear is not ready. The mission that is not accompanied by the right uniform is a suicide mission.

You made yourself ready for all physical warfare. You have no means of the spiritual ones.

You have a rifle toward the enemy in sight. You have no uniform for the enemy, whom you can't fight. The tangible danger is covered by body armor. You have no field armor against the demonic one. You have a helmet for the range. Thou hast not a helmet to arm thy battlefield of thy own mind.

You will have to obtain your own spiritual uniform.

THE FAITH THAT HIDES IN CIVILIAN CLOTHES

This is what will happen when your faith lacks unity.

You are in a different posture on drill weekend. You are very watchful. You have a sense of purpose. The uniform makes you noticeable. The rank makes you accountable. The mission is what puts you in focus.

Illinois Army National Guard

It's Monday morning, and the uniform is missing. Your posture drops. Your alertness fades. Your purpose blurs. You are nothing but a member of a group of civilians. The enemy sees no threat. Your tribe beholds no sign. You see no reminder.

Your faith is in civilian apparel since you provided it with nothing visible to put on.

You still believe. You still pray. You continue to read Scripture. But no one knows it. It is not perceived by your family. It is not visible to your neighbors. The foe hath no dread of it.

A secret faith is no sin. A hidden faith is an undefended perimeter.

The enemy requires you not to abjure your faith. All he wants you to do is to make it disappear. He has no need of you to cease to believe. All he requires is that you cease proclaiming. He need not ruin you. All he has to do is to ensure that you are not a threat.

There is no uniform in your faith. The enemy makes use of the breach.

"Put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts." — Romans 13:14

THE BATTLEFIELD YOU CANNOT SEE

The Illinois Army National Guard prepares you to see conflicts.

At Rock Island arsenal, you get to know how to shoot at visible targets. You are taught at the armories in Springfield, Peoria, and Chicago how to maneuver against visible enemies. When on deployment, you are fighting against visible enemies.

The spiritual warring arena is not seen. The opponent is unseen. The weapons are not seen.

You will not shoot what you cannot see. You will not be able to outsmart what you cannot follow. It is impossible to fight something that you are not aware of.

Bullets are not the main weapon of the enemy. Invisibility is the main weapon of the enemy. He hides. He whispers. He deceives. He is a back-attacker. He does not identify himself.

When you wear your Spiritual Minded Military shirt, the enemy sees it. He knows you are armed. He knows you are watching. He knows you are not an easy target.

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds." — 2 Corinthians 10:3-4

THE THREE THINGS YOUR FAITH UNIFORM DOES

1. It Reminds You

When the mission seems far away on those days. During the days in which the craving is loud. On those days that you lose the reason why you are fighting. You look down. You read the words. You remember.

The uniform is not magic. The uniform is a trigger. It causes your memory. It triggers your identity. It is the starting point of your mission.

2. It Warns the Enemy

The devilish world looks on. The enemy observes. He seeks after the unarmed. He seeks the unseen. He searches for the soldier that had forgotten to wear his armor.

When he beholds your uniform, he realigns. He seeks easier prey. He does not waste ammunition on soldiers that are visibly armed.

3. It Identifies Your Tribe

You are not the only Illinois Army National Guardsman fighting this battle. There are others. They are at Rock Island Arsenal. They are in the armories. They are in the civilian neighborhoods of Chicago, Springfield, and Peoria.

They cannot find you if you are invisible. They cannot connect if you are hidden. They cannot fight with you if you have no uniform.

Your Soldier for Christ Field Armor is not just for you. It is for your wingman. He needs to see you. He needs to know he is not alone.

THE UNIFORM THE ILLINOIS GUARD NEVER ISSUED

The Illinois Army National Guard issues you a uniform for every mission. The Guard does not issue a uniform for the spiritual mission because the Guard does not have one. The Guard is forbidden from promoting faith. The Guard is neutral by law.

Neutrality is a luxury you cannot afford.

The enemy is not neutral. The enemy is not forbidden from attacking your faith. The enemy has no rules of engagement that respect the separation of church and state.

The Guard cannot give you this uniform. The Guard cannot even tell you that you need it. The Guard can only train your body. The Guard can only equip your physical mission.

Your faith uniform is your responsibility. Not the Guard's. Not the VA's. Yours.

The Spiritual Minded Military shirt is the uniform the Guard never issued. The Guard does not have the authority to issue it. The Kingdom does.

THE ILLINOIS FACTOR

Illinois is not a neutral state. Rock Island Arsenal has manufactured weapons for the Union, for both World Wars, and for every major American conflict. The arsenal is not neutral. The arsenal chooses a side.

Your faith is not neutral. Your faith is not private. Your faith is not invisible.

The Land of Lincoln produced a president who issued the Emancipation Proclamation. He did not keep his convictions private. He wore them on his chest.

The armories in Springfield, Peoria, and Chicago are not neutral ground. They are training grounds for warriors. Your home is not neutral ground. Your workplace is not neutral ground. Your neighborhood is not neutral ground.

Everywhere you go is a battlefield. Everywhere you go requires a uniform.

THE GARRISON STANDARD FOR FAITH

The Army has a garrison standard. How you wear the uniform. How you maintain your weapon. How you address your superiors. The standard is not optional. The standard is enforced.

Illinois Army National Guard

Your faith needs a garrison standard.

The standard is not complicated. You have three rules.

Wear your faith uniform every day. Not just on drill weekend. Not just on Sunday. Every day. The enemy does not take days off. Neither should your armor.

Wear your faith uniform with intention. Not because you are required. Because you are on mission. The mission does not end at the armory gate. The mission continues at the grocery store. The mission continues at your kitchen table. The mission continues everywhere you go.

You have the standard. Execute it.

Conclusion

Illinois Army National Guard, you have a uniform for every mission except the most important one. The Guard never issued it. The Guard cannot issue it. The Guard is not your commander for this war.

Your Commander is Jesus Christ. He issues the uniform. He has been waiting for you to put it on.

Your Spiritual Minded Military shirt is not merchandise. It is not fashion. It is the uniform of the Kingdom. It is the field armor for the invisible war. It is the declaration that you are armed, you are visible, and you are not prey.

You have the uniform. The only question is whether you will wear it.
